Programme 4: Promoting Resilience: Supporting Children's Emotional Development, Health & Wellbeing
Play Therapy & the Natural Landscape

>

Two Day, Weekend Programme in West Wales, United Kingdom.

Clinical Play Therapy uses a range of specialist approaches and techniques to support, develop and extend children's play themes. This enables children to be scaffolded step-by-step in the acquisition of new behaviour, as well as understanding their thoughts and feelings. Troubles, worries, emotional and behavioural issues that are barriers to children's development and learning can be resolved and worked through, using the specialist techniques and assessment processes within Clinical Play Therapy.

This two-day Programme (Saturday and Sunday) enables participants to understand the importance of promoting resilience when working with children with emotional and behavioural issues. Building resilience involves new resources being introduced in therapeutic partnership with the client, including the natural and local landscape, and community environmental features.

Working with Families. This approach can further enable holistic professional practice to include the client's family, encouraging their support and input through developing and building family therapeutic work centred upon specific landscape and community environmental resources. Attachment-based therapeutic strategies are used to support this process and participants will also be introduced to specialist techniques drawn from Filial Play Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy and Theraplay.

Strengths-based, adaptive behaviour can be supported by Clinical Play Therapy, and participants will learn how to achieve this, through developing, assessing and utilising key therapeutic themes and activities based within the natural landscape. The setting of the beautiful, tranquil and richly abundant natural landscape in West Wales will enable participants to fully experience the strengths within this approach to children's wellbeing, which can then be developed within their own professional setting.
